Newly appointed teachers will no longer need to go to Marela House in Suva to get registered and get their appointment letters.
Minister for Education Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says long queues outside Marela House every year was an age old practice and unfortunately the ministry had been doing this for decades.
He said at the start of every academic year, teachers had to travel to Marela house for new appointments but that should not be the case anymore.
Sayed-Khaiyum has advised the Permanent Secretary on the change and teachers can now get their offer letters and appointment letters from their respective divisional education offices.
