The Education Ministry has cleared a school teacher who allegedly publicly read private text messages of a student of any breach of Public Service Commission Code of Conduct.
Minister Mahendra Reddy says its Ethics and Disciplinary Unit had completed its internal investigation.
And the ministry reached the decision that there was no breach from the information gathered to date.
Reddy says the teacher will go through counseling to better handle similar situations in the future.
The teacher is alleged to have read text messages of student, Navneeta Devi
who died of self-inflicted burns more than a fortnight ago.
The teacher of Jasper Williams High School remains on suspension.
Reddy says the ministry will also fine tune the existing policy on mobile phones and similar gadgets in schools to clearly define the boundaries to all teachers, parents and students.
Police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding Devi’s death and the ministry will await the outcome of it.
