Gale warning remains in force for some parts of Fiji

Tropical Depression 03F may intensify further into a category 1 Tropical Cyclone in the next 12 hours.

The Fiji Meteorological Services says TD03F was located about 320 km northwest of Udu point and about 325 km north-northwest of Labasa at 3am today.

TD03F is moving east-southeast at about 25km/hr.

On the projected path, it is expected to be located about 110 km north-northeast of Udu point or about 180 km northeast of Labasa at 3pm today and about 185 km east of Vanuabalavu or about 210 km northeast of Lakeba at 3am tomorrow.

On its anticipated development and track, the system may bring damaging gale force winds over eastern Vanua Levu from Labasa to Savusavu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and northern lau group from mid-morning.

A strong wind warning remains in force for Rotuma and the rest of Fiji’s land areas.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group.

Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain affects Fiji.
