Tropical Depression 07F is easing off and will move away from Fiji and the heavy rain and strong winds that are being experienced will die down slowly.

However, this will be temporary as Tropical Cyclone Ula, that has intensified into category 3 system tracks down from Vavau Island in the South of Samoa towards the Fiji Group.

Director Meteorology Ravind Kumar says the eye of the storm is expected to be over Lakeba in the Lau group in the next 24-48 hours.

“We will see that in the next 18-24 hours the rain and strong wind will ease and gradually do so. However the approaching Tropical Cyclone will also bring rain and strong winds which we witnessed, similar conditions will prevail. However the heavy in the last few hours will now ease.”

Kumar has urged mariners to refrain from going out to the seas and take weather reports seriously.
