“The periods of heavy rain and squally thunderstorms is expected over most parts of Fiji to continue and when we say periods of rain – which means we will have short breaks but longer periods of rain continuing.”

He says Tropical Depression 04f is moving southeast towards the Mamanuca group at about 10km/hr.

“At 1pm – the center of the Depression was located about thirty kilometers Northwest of Viwa or about ninety kilometers northwest of Nadi and it is moving ten kilometers per hour southeast wards and on the projected track it is expected to cross Viti Levu by midnight tonight and move down southeast wards to lay west of Kadavu or close to Kadavu by midday tomorrow and it will move further south before taking a southeast track into open waters.”

The Nadi Met office has also issued a flood warning for the Nadi River.

“Cloud mass is sitting up and now it is pouring rain into the upper catchment and the Nadi river is responding – so if it is going to continue like this for couple of more hours we’ll see that Nadi River will respond, levels will rise – given that the high tide is coming in tonight.”
