Tropical Cyclone Pola, a category two system is currently located about 290 kilometres to the North East of Ono-I Lau.
Director Meteorological Services Misaele Funaki says TC Pola has winds of 55 knots or 105km/hr to the centre and is a very fast moving system.
Funaki says it is moving towards the South of Ono-i-Lau at around 27km/h and on the track that it is taking is expected to slip in between Fiji and Tonga.
“The primary concern now is for the two islands that we are warning for which is Vatoa and Onoi Lau for members of the public in those two islands to be prepared for the winds. Primarily looking into today into the early hours of tomorrow morning as I have already said earlier on, it is a fast moving system”
Funaki says it is expected to move to the far South of Ono-I-Lau from tomorrow.
Isolated heavy falls may lead to localised flooding especially to the Southern part of Ono-i-Lau.
