Residents of Nananu village in Tailevu fear their homes and property could be destroyed by storm surges.

Villager Fulori Rigamoto says there is a possibility of coastal flooding as water levels have breached the sea-wall.

She says seawater is reaching their homes and things could be worse with high tide expected soon. Heavy rain is also being experienced.

Rigamoto says people are confined to their homes due to the strong winds.

Some families have already moved to Ratu Kadavulevu School while others are awaiting a decision by the village headman on when to move.
