About 12 homes in Belego, Savusavu are underwater due to widespread flooding.
The Bagata River burst its bank earlier today.
Resident Dinesh Ram says while homes are underwater, the water levels are slowly decreasing.

Ram says he rescued 16 people from flooded houses and he had to swim through the river to retrieve a canoe from a neighbouring house.
He says that one family is still stranded at their home and this has been reported to the authorities.
The rescued families are now sheltering in other houses as access to evacuation centres has been blocked off by floodwaters.
Ram told FBC News heavy rain and wind continues in Belego.
