Taxi driver charged with alleged bribery

A taxi driver of Maravu settlement in Four Miles, Suva is in custody after he allegedly bribed a police officer of fifteen dollars and told her not to book him.

It’s alleged two police officers were on traffic operation at Renwick road on the 18th of this month, when they noticed the driver travelling in his car, failed to turn left as indicated by the road marking.

The driver was arrested and taken to Totogo Police Station where an official report was lodged.

The driver was charged with one count of bribery of public official.

He will be appearing in the Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon.
