Infectious diseases are now a major concern in the cyclone ravaged areas on Taveuni.

A report from the Vuna Nursing Station states that there is a high risk of diseases due to contaminated drinking water and the overcrowding of evacuation centers.

Divisional Health Inspector North, Sunia Ubitau, says the danger is there and precautionary measures need to be taken.
