May 11, 2019 4:30 pm

Taveuni Buses Limited has suspended its services on the island due to the deteriorating road conditions.

Speaking to FBC News Manager Operations Prakash Sami says they have stopped providing services since Thursday, labelling the road conditions as pathetic.

Sami says they have lodged several complaints regarding the state of the road, but claims nothing has been done.

He adds while they regret any inconvenience caused, they cannot operate their buses in such conditions.

Sami says they did a survey of the affected roads today and have seen that contractors are working on the roads.

He says they will do an inspection after the road work is completed and will then decide when services will resume.

The Fiji Road Authority informed FBC News that they are currently carrying out maintenance on roads across the country.

Chief Executive Jonathan Moore says the conditions have deteriorated due to the recent wet weather but rehabilitation is underway.
