Good news for 24 market vendors of Lautoka who have been selling by the roadside as their new Tavakubu Satellite Market was officially opened today.

Shimran Chandra says that for the past few years they have been braving the hot sun and rain to sell their produce.

She says all the vendors were using makeshift tents to sell from.

“_Actually we used to use the toilet at the service station and for water we used to bring it from home but now we have all of that here.”_

Another market vendor Sateita Adi says they still can’t believe that they finally have their own mini market.

Adi says that it was difficult for them in the past as there were no proper facilities.

She adds that this will really boost their business.

The Tavakubu Satellite Market is an investment of $150,000 by the government.
