Taking care of a cancer patient at home is challenging at times says Sainimili Nasilasila who cared for her 64 year-old father.
Nasilasila’s father late Esala Rasovo was diagnosed with throat cancer in January this year and passed away in May.
She says as a care-giver it was hard for her to witness what her dad was going through.
“Every decision that was made for him and every part of his care, we included his input. We didn’t just take over everything about him because they themselves have their own dignity to keep.”
She says the cancer society also offers quality services and says she was fortunate to get help from them.
Nasilasila says while taking care of her late father, she had to put aside her emotions.
She urges other family members to provide utmost care and support to their loved ones during their battle with this deadly disease.
