The Health Ministry is urging people to take their filariasis tablets.

The Ministry says this is the only way the national target of eliminating the disease by 2016 can be achieved.

Filariasis National Adivisor , Dr Mike Kama says, a mass drug administration, will take place from the 26th to the 28th of this month and all are encouraged to take part.

Dr Kama says everyone except for pregnant mothers and children below the age of two are to take the tablets.

Fiji is classified the worst country in the Pacific Region in as far as the spread of filarisis is concerned.
