Take heed of weather warnings

The Ministry of Information is now urging people to take heed of the current weather warning as Cyclone Evan is now making its way through Upolu in Samoa heading towards Fiji.

According to weather experts, Cyclone Evan will be a category 2 which could easily become a category three – a hurricane.

With many parts of the country currently experiencing sunny weather, weather experts and government agencies are currently observing Cyclone Evan’s current track.

Permanent Secretary Information –Sharon Smith-Johns says indications are that Evans will be at our door step by this weekend.

“From the weather forecast at the moment tropical cyclone Evan is sitting in Samoa and it’s expected to turn tonight. So we will know tonight which course it is going to take – the current predications say it will start affecting Sunday morning and Monday.”

On its current track, the Northern Division, Taveuni, Lau, the Lomaiviti Group, Kadavu and the east coast of Viti Levu.

Smith-Johns says people should act now and prepare themselves.
