Fiji Roads Authority Chief Executive Officer, John Hutchinson says working on a design to meet the publics’ requirement is currently a challenge for the FRA.

“We acknowledged that and that’s one of the things that we are trying to fix. Part of the problem that we have it that bus shelters need to fit within the existing foot print on the road corridor so you cannot take up foot paths, you have to make allowance to pedestrian to walk past, you can’t allow it to hangout over the road way, otherwise the buses will come along and knock the roof off. All of those things have to be taken into account and in some instances, our road corridors simply aren’t wide enough to put the sort of design that we want.”

Hutchinson adds that he appreciates the public’s concern and frustrations and has assured them that FRA is currently working on addressing the issue.
