The body of a Sydney bride who died on her honeymoon in Fiji of severe bilateral pneumonia is expected to be flown home on a private plane today.

This will cost Kelly Clarke’s family over $60,000 but they are hopeful their insurance will cover the exorbitant costs.

Clarke, a twenty-four-year-old children’s nurse, was on her honeymoon with husband Chase at a resort in Sigatoka when she fell ill last Wednesday.

She shrugged it off as a stomach bug but within hours was rushed to Lautoka hospital where doctors began treating her for suspected typhoid.

She died two days later.

Clarke’s brother Murray Shaw last night told The Daily Telegraph the nurse died of “severe bilateral pneumonia”.

The couple had been holidaying in Fiji in the lead-up to the wedding of Clarke’s best mate.
