Suva Oldies Rugby Club creates awareness on prostate cancer

The Suva Oldies Rugby Club is working closely with the Fiji Cancer Society to raise awareness on prostate cancer.

President, Mason Smith says every year they raise funds to assist around 1500 men.

Smith says last year they managed to test about 1600 men for prostate cancer.

“Out of those a fairly high number of about 120 men were tested positive for cancer. We working very closely with the Ministry of Health, Fiji Cancer Society and Private sector labs to ensure that follow-up treatment is undertaken by those that test positive for prostate cancer.”

He says cancer affects everyone and early detection is the best way to prevent deaths.

Calls have also been made for people to provide moral support and assistance to those diagnosed with cancer and those who are cancer survivors.
