Suva Civic Centre reopens after redevelopment

The landmark Suva Civic Centre was officially opened yesterday after undergoing 18 months of redevelopment by Guangdong Namyue Group from China.

At a cost of $20 million financed by the Chinese, the centre has been outfitted with a state of the art visual and audio system, a multi-function room, a restaurant, a VIP room and a completely renovated main auditorium.

Local Government Minister, Parveen Bala noted that in its prime, the Suva Civic Centre expected to cater for more than 650 events a year, the new outfit expected to do even better.

“Today marks yet another historic moment in Fiji’s civic history in particular, that of our Capital City Suva.”

With the Suva Civic Centre now open, another significant project has now been earmarked for Nasinu with the Guangdong Provincial Administration to develop the Valelevu Stadium and sports ground.
