Suspect remains in custody

A man remains in police custody in Nadi over the find of burnt human remains over the weekend.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says investigators are awaiting the forensic tests conducted on the burnt human remains, uplifted by the police officers in Nawaicoba, Nadi.

Meanwhile, FBC News understands the man being questioned is the husband of the woman who was reported missing by her family on the 11th of this month.

Naisoro says upon investigation, they received information the man allegedly inflicted serious harm on her.

FBC News can also confirm the man had confessed to the alleged incident which prompted the Police to search his compound and found what is believed to be burnt human remains that were buried.

A suspect in an alleged hit and run accident along the Bulileka Road at FSC Labasa on Sunday morning remains in police custody.

The post mortem of the deceased is expected to be conducted today.

The deceased was discovered by a team of police officers at around 2am on Sunday during roadblock duties.

The victim was conveyed to the Labasa Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, police have still not been able to identify the vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run case on the Nadi Back road nearly two weeks ago.

The victim, a woman aged between 20 to 30 years, was found wearing a pair of long black tight trousers with a blue t-shirt and a gray cardigan tied around her waist.

The suspect in the murder of Losana McGowan over the weekend remains in Police custody.

A statement from Police this morning says investigators are awaiting the outcome of the post mortem examination which is currently being conducted.

The late McGowan lost her life early Saturday morning after her partner allegedly pushed her after a heated argument in which she fell and hit her head on the concrete floor at their flat in Toorak, Suva.
