The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation will conduct a survey on the government’s new leave provisions.

FCEF Chief Executive, Nesbit Hazelman says these provisions include family care leave, paternity leave, and extended maternity leave which were announced in the 2018/2019 National Budget.

Hazelman says the Federation will compile the results and present it to Employment Minister, Parveen Kumar.

“Based on the data we will make decisions or seek information or even talk to the Minister about this to inform the government on the issues employers will face on the ground. I think it’s important we as employers, treat the government as partners, hence, we need to advise them on what is happening on the ground.”

Meanwhile, over 150 members of the FCEF gathered in Suva today to know more about the new leave entitlements and how it will work.
