A Surveyor from the Ministry of Land pleaded guilty at the Suva Magistrates Court today for assaulting a man because he was not given a cigarette.

24 year old Elisio Bakaniceva is charged with assaulting Nafiz Samat who was walking along Rodwell Road in February this year.

Today he asked for forgiveness and wants to reconcile with the complainant.

Upon mitigation he said he is sorry and he is the sole breadwinner and he looks after his elderly parents.

Bakaniceva will be sentenced on the 26th of next month.
