The four sugar mills are going through major maintenance to prepare for the next crushing season.

FSC Executive Chair Abdul Khan told FBC News they want every corner of the mills covered under the maintenance programme.

Khan says the FSC faced milling problem particularly at the Lautoka Sugar Mill during the last crushing season and they do not want this to happen again.

He says part of the $US5.38m loan from the Exim Bank of India will be used to further upgrade the Lautoka mill as well as the other mills.

Khan says FSC cannot afford to see crushing being disrupted during crushing season as delays are costly to both FSC and the cane growers.
