Saneem says there is very little time for the FEO to prepare the design as well as to have the ballot papers printed and delivered to them.

He says the successful bidder must be capable of meeting the deadlines.

“At the moment as you are aware we have 620, 000 registered voters and it approximately may go up to 630, 000 registered voters as we go into elections next year. Therefore ballot papers for the next general elections will have to be printed in sufficient quantity together with the contingency amount. We may be looking at printing approximately 750, 000 ballot papers but not exceeding 800, 000. This will be depended as I said on the final number of registered voters for the next general elections.”

Saneem says ballot papers for the next general elections should have atleast three security features.

It has to be bound in books of fifty ballot papers per book and each book is to be uniquely numbered for tracking.
