Simple negligence to use rubbish bins have left some of Fiji’s beautiful beaches and locations riddled with rubbish.

To help reduce the problem, a group of individuals have come together to help.

More than 100 volunteers are of “Clean Suva, Clean Fiji” campaign for the next four years.

The campaign organised by the Department of Energy was launched yesterday which had these volunteers picking up rubbish from the Suva Foreshore, Albert Park towards the Sukuna Park.

Coordinator Daniel Taufaga says this is part of their goal to reduce the littering problem in Fiji.

Taufaga says their main focus was to instil some sense of social responsibility among students who make up a large number of volunteers.

He urged other people to dispose off their rubbish at right places.
