June 7, 2018 6:03 pm

Students of John Wesley College were encouraged to take Parliament education home to their family members in the hope of enlightening them about the workings of Parliament.

Speaking during the “Meet the Speaker” programme in the school yesterday, Principal Naisa Camatoko says it’s only right for the students to impart their knowledge about Parliament to their families.

The Speaker Dr Jiko Luveni and the Parliament outreach team visited the school as part of the programme where she enlightened the students about her role and also the roles and functions of Parliament in particular how citizens can engage in the Parliamentary processes.

With the knowledge gained, Camatoko also encouraged the students to engage with Parliament in order to make their voices heard at the national level.

At the same time, Camatoko also conveyed his gratitude to the Speaker for having visiting their school for the first time and also being a good role model.

Apart from just educating the students about her role in Parliament, the Speaker also talked about the compositions of Parliament, its Members and other important information.
