Students urged to attend school

April 19, 2012 7:08 pm

Students in flood affected areas are urged to attend school as they have already missed a lot.

Divisional Education Officer West – Lorima Voravora says the teachers have been told to draw up alternative programs which will enable them to catch up on missed classes.

Voravora says the 2nd term school break has been shortened which should give them more time to cover missed classes.

“We are trying to encourage all students to attend the school even if they don’t have uniforms. Things are getting better now. The recovery stage is ongoing and we are on to rehabilitation. We hope that by the end of this week things will be… – it won’t be that normal really – it will take some time but we want to ensure that we provide the best.”

He adds that they are still equipping schools in terms of stationery and other teaching materials.
