True learning requires inner discipline and knowledge grows best when there is freedom to think.

This was highlighted by Minister for Infrastructure Jone Usamate at the opening of the University of the South Pacific’s Orientation week.

Usamate says as new students they will get to meet other new students and take advantage of the services provided by USP.

He also urged students to abandon the culture of silence and learn to ask questions to increase their knowledge.

Usamate adds Fiji needs people who come out of Universities who do not just repeat what they have learnt but can also think for themselves.

The Minister who is a proud alumni of the University encouraged students to take advantage of all the facilities made available to them.
