Family members, friends, teachers and classmates of one of three primary school students who died from self-inflicted wounds in Suva earlier this week paid their last respects to the victim.

The funeral rites for Ayush Kumar were held at his home today before he was laid to rest at the Vatuwaqa Cemetary.

Kumar died on Tuesday morning, several hours after he inflicted injuries on himself on Monday night.

His two classmates did the same and they died several days apart.

Earlier reports indicated the students feared failing their internal exams.

However, information from family members indicates to peer pressure.

The funerals of the other two students are expected to be held next week after police conduct post mortem examinations.
