The University of the South Pacific has been facing student accommodation issues at Suva’s Laucala Campus for some time now.

Vice Chancellor Rajesh Chandra says this will no longer be an issue.

He says the University will invest in a new building that will have 440 rooms which will be fully furnished.

“We believe that students who stay on campus will be successful because they don’t have to worry about other things and have access to other facilities.
Chandra says the extra accommodation will provide more opportunities for regional and local students.”

The new accommodation building will be known as the 12th Hall of Residence.

The project is expected to cost around $634,000.
