“Streetlights form two function, primarily they have a function to make driving at night time safer and they also have a function to provide additional backlighting for pedestrians in that to be able to see where they’re walking as well”.

He says the streetlights that we currently have, do not suit the climate change and so it gets damaged easily, hence the FRA will be implementing suitable ones.

According to remedial work, there are 6,400 damaged streetlights, which 850 have s been fixed so far.

With a budget of $12.8 million, the installation of the new streetlights is expected to commence within a week.
