A number of strategies are in place to continue with the protection of Fiji’s reef and marine areas.

With 2018 being International Year of the Reef, Minister for Tourism Faiyaz Koya says that they have formulated a Tourism Development Plan which looks at marine conservation.

“These strategies include raising awareness on marine conservation and the establishment of marine protected areas to help and conserve our marine environment.”

Koya says that through these efforts- Fiji will be able to stand on par with other nations on the commitment of biodiversity protection and sustainable fisheries.
