Stranded passengers returning to Suva

All 38 passengers of the MV Uluinabukelevu, who were stranded in Oneata, Southern Lau last week are now finally on their way to Suva.

The passengers and the crew of the boat were being sheltered at Waiqori Village.

Villager Sekope Soqoiwasa told FBC News from Waiqori that the passengers left the village on board the government vessel MV Rogovoka at around 9am yesterday.

FBC News understand, the vessel is now in Namuka-i-Lau and is expected to make it’s way to Suva today.

The passengers were stranded after the vessel they were traveling in ran aground on the reef in Oneata.

As of now, it remains stuck on the reef.
