The COP23 President adds, our people are under siege from rising seas, longer droughts and changing weather patterns and it is frustrating having to continuously tell this to the world.

“It can be frustrating, at times, having to constantly impress the urgency of our situation upon the rest of the world, especially in some countries where the case for climate action faces some seriously selfish and short-sighted interests.”

Bainimarama referred to the additional COP23 negotiating session as an urgent session as he feels countries have not progressed far enough in finalising the guidelines.
