State wants bail revoked in sedition case

The Lautoka High Court will today hear a State application to revoke the bail of three men charged with sedition related offences.

The Director of Public Prosectuions has appealed against bail granted to Timoci Nagata, Pita Camaimoala Vakatawa and Saimoni Nacolawa are charged with Sedition and Inciting Communal Antagonism under the Crimes Decree 2009.

The State is arguing that the bail granted to the three men be revoked in the interest of national security.

Defence lawyer Aman Ravindra-Singh argued that that no evidence has been produced to warrant the revocation of bail.

The matter is expected to be called at 2pm today.
