June 21, 2012 7:33 pm

Squatters living in the Wailea Settlement in Vatuwaqa have been told to either vacate the land or move back to their villages.

The Land Ministry is planning to utilise the state land for commercial purposes.

Director Housing – Kolinio Bola says the department is assessing the level of income and expenditure of those living in the area.

Bola says initial assessments show that some families living in Wailea are eligible to apply for housing authority loans.

He says the project is divided into phases.

Relocation will take place once alternative sites are found.
