The South Pacific Tourism Organisation launched the Pacific Sustainable Tourism Network website today to mark the World Tourism Day.
SPTO Research and Statistics Manager, Elizabeth Ragimana says this will help raise awareness on contribution towards sustainable development in the tourism sector.
Ragimana says the website will be a platform for stakeholders to discuss important and emerging issues affecting the development of sustainable tourism in the Pacific.
“Harnessing innovation and digital advances provides tourism with the opportunity to improve inclusiveness, local community empowerment and efficient resource management amongst other objectives within the wider sustainable development agenda.”
Ragimana says the stakeholders and other contributors to the tourism sector will be able to view many factual writings and success stories among other things.
