SPSE competition to improve transparency

The South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPSE) rewarded top companies who won awards at the 2015 Annual Report Competition Awards in Suva last night.

The main purpose for the awards was to improve the standard of reporting and presentation of financial and other information to the stakeholders in their reports.

SPSE chairman Dr Nur Bano Ali said greater transparency and accountability to stakeholders is being promoted across the nation and the entities are champions of that cause.

There were four categories namely Category A: Statutory Authorities and Government bodies, Category B: charitable and non-profit organisations, Category C: Public companies and Category D: Unit trusts and listed companies.

The winners from all four categories respectively are as follows: Reserve Bank of Fiji, The University of the South Pacific, Merchant Finance and Investment Company Limited and Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Ltd.

The special award went to Communications Fiji Ltd and Credit Corporation (PNG) Ltd.
