Ministry of Social Welfare Permanent Secretary, Dr Josefa Koroivueta says that the ministry of the economy continues to do spot checks under the Home CARE program.

Dr Koroivueta says spot checks are being done at the place of distribution of cards and other areas as well.

“They have been doing it at the place of the operations and also areas that have been covered before and we have actually provided the information that has been provided to us, the one that we actually flag at the time of operation and also the ones that members of the community have actually reported voluntarily and it’s quite a list.”

He says that they also have advisory councilors and Turaga ni Koro’s present at the operation centres which is an advantage as they verify those who really need the assistance.

Dr Koroivueta adds they have turned people away which indicates to others that they cannot trick them.
