The Government, through the Ministry of Industry and Trade received further support from the Textile, Clothing and Footwear Council, for the hosting of the 30th UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Joint Commission Meeting for East Asia and the Pacific (CAP) and Commission for South Asia (CSA) and Regional Seminar.
The Ministry received $10,000 in sponsorship, which reaffirmed the TCF Sector’s continued partnership with the Government.
Permanent Secretary, Shaheen Ali, says noted that this is first time a Pacific Island Country will host a UNWTO Meeting.
Ali says the East Asia and the Pacific and South Asia are important regional markets for Fiji.
He says Fiji needs to showcase its ability, especially with the TCF industry in the global value chain.
The meeting will be held in June, in Nadi.
