Speeding remains a worry

Speeding on our roads continues to be a major concern.
The Fiji Police Force and the Land Transport Authority have recorded a high number of speeding cases upon the completion of the joint “Red Zone” Operation.
The operation which focused on the Sigatoka to Ba corridor saw 1,165 drivers booked.
789 were booked for speeding.
Police say this continues to be a worry for all stakeholders that drivers are still completely disregarding the law and have no regard for the safety of other road users.
17, 804 speeding cases have been recorded from January to September 3rd.
The Fiji Police Force says there needs to be a serious attitude adjustment on the part of drivers as statistics show that all warnings and advisories are still clearly falling on deaf ears.
The death toll currently stands at 31, equaling that of the same period last year.
