Dealing with violent robbery cases is one of the areas the Fiji Police Force is looking into this festive season.

Police Commissioner – Ben Groenewald says this is the normal trend during festivities and officers are on alert – providing security to the public.

Groenewald says this includes aggravated robbery, house breaking and burglary.

“As I have indicated, I have appointed a special task team to look into all these robberies and to see whether there are specific “modus operadi” and we will follow that."

Groenewald is urging the public to be more careful as perpetrators will be targeting them to make their ends meet during this festive season.

“I don’t think it is syndicate, its opportunist crime that is being committed by people. They take the opportunity in the festive season to see where they can loot.”

The Police Commissioner has advised people to be vigilant and stay safe this holiday season.
