South of Fiji still feeling effects of TC Evan

A gale warning remains in force for Kadavu and a strong wind warning remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

The latest weather update sats a damaging heavy swell warning remains in force for the Mamanuca Group, Southwest of Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

At 1pm today, severe tropical cyclone Evan which has been downgraded to category three was located about 165km South-Southwest of Kadavu or about 265km South-Southwest of Suva.

The cyclone is moving South-Southeast at about 15km/hr.

On this track, the cyclone is expected to be located about 285km South-Southwest of Kadavu at 1am tomorrow or about 295km South of Kadavu at 1pm tomorrow.

For Kadavu:
Damaging gale force winds with average speeds up to 85km/hr.

Periods of heavy rain with damaging heavy swells with sea flooding of low lying coastal areas.

For the rest of Fiji:
Strong winds with average speeds up to 55km/hr. Occasional rain, heavy at times.

Flooding of low lying areas especially over eastern Viti Levu.

Sea flooding of low lying coastal areas likely over Mamanuca Group and Southwest Viti Levu.
