There will be limited berthing capacity at the wharf as the South end of Port Mua-i-Walu 2 will be closed off from today until May 10th.

This is being done to allow the deck overlay maintenance project to be carried out.

According to Fiji Ports Corporation Limited there are other alternative berthing arrangements already in place.

FPCL says alternative facilities to accommodate berthing include the Government Shipping Services facility, old shipyard and also Princess Wharf.

The maintenance project will be in two phases with the maintenance covering 42 meters from the South end of the wharf.

Phase one is scheduled from February 21 to March 31 while Phase two is expected to be from April 8th to May 10th.

Vessel operators are advised to work closely with FPCL to see how best they can utilize the limited berthing capacity during this maintenance period.
