Under the current system of Workers Compensation some employers are denying the liability to pay compensation.

This was confirmed by Employment Minister Jone Usamate as government introduces the No Fault Scheme in 2019.

Usamate says employers are playing around with the current system, however under the No Fault Scheme workers will receive compensation without having to prove fault.

“And because of that even though the worker is an employee of the company now with the new scheme, that will no longer be an excuse that any employer can use.”

Government has also announced that students who are injured within the school premises will also be covered under the new no fault scheme.
