The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service says there are still businesses who are not complying with VAT.

Chief Executive, Visvanath Das says this is after their recent audits of some supermarkets showed there was a fifty-three million dollar VAT liability inclusive of customs liability as well.

“There is still non-compliance in the VAT area and at the moment we are having a whole project based on different industries in terms of VAT audit so we have started off with the supermarkets and it will gradually be extended into other spaces as well."
