SOE says ample time for preparations

The Fijian Elections Office is ready to head to the polls as soon as the writ is announced says Supervisor Mohammed Saneem.

Speaking on FBC TV’s 4 the Record program last night, Saneem says his office has been fine tuning its processes and procedures.

“The more time you have the better time you have to prepare, but we were prepared to conduct an election from April this year and as we have continued to grow into the year the Fijian Elections Office has continued to refine the processes and procedures to ensure that the election is delivered in a more efficient manner.”

If the Prime Minister does not advice the President to dissolve the parliament by October 6th, then within the next seven days after October 6th the President can automatically announce the writ of elections.

Meanwhile, on this day four years ago Fiji headed to the polls to elect a new government.

The newly formed FijiFirst Party headed by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama won majority of the seats in parliament.
