November 19, 2018 11:45 pm

The Social Democratic Liberal Party has not accepted the results of the 2018 General Election and has decided to challenge the results in Court.

During a party gathering yesterday, Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka says they will seek a legal redress through their lawyers.

While questioning the validity of the 2018 General Election, Rabuka has labelled the results as unsatisfactory.

“This is the avenue of protest, Legal Avenue of protest available to every citizen and organisations like us to question the validity of an official event.”

Rabuka claims they have evidence from their agents on the ground and they have the right to know if the results are legitimate.

“While we now acknowledge the results that has come out, we are not satisfied that they are genuine and credible so we will pursue that avenue to determine the legitimacy of the results that we have been shown.”

The Electoral Decree states that Election petitions must be addressed to the Court of Disputed Returns within 21 days after declaration of results.

Supervisor of Election Mohammed Saneem says they have not received any official complaint from SODELPA.
