As the nation awaits the 2019 and 2020 budget announcement, the Social Democratic Liberal Party has given their views on what might be the outcome of the National Budget announcement.

The Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka and other senior members of SODELPA gave their observation saying the budget could be impacted by the global economic uncertainty.

Already asserting their opinion on the outcome of the budget, Rabuka says government needs to re-look at how assistance are distributed.

“There is too much non targeted assistance in this sectors therefore the focus should be identifying those who really need the assistance and be given the support, rather than the current arrangement where any Tom, Dick and Frank can get assistance”

With government trying to introduce sound economic policies to try and create a sustainable economy, Rabuka is calling on government to reduce consumption.

“We must try and maintain our current revenue trend which is already quite high as the percentage of GDP and reduce wastage.”

SODELPA MP Aseri Radrodro says a tax review is needed so that people are not overtaxed.

The party is calling on government to urgently improve the way it manages the economy given the insecurity of trade negotiations between top world countries.
