SODELPA fails to meet requirement

October 9, 2018 8:05 pm

SODELPA failed to meet a requirement by the Fijian Elections Office when submitting their candidate nominations yesterday afternoon.

Elections Supervisor Mohammed Saneem says the party failed to produce a legal tender or banker’s cheque as payment for the provisional candidates.

“The requirement is that any political party or independent candidate that lodges their nominations with us must pay a $1000 in legal tender or banker’s cheque and SODELPA this afternoon did not produce a banker’s cheque.”

Saneem says he has advised the party to get this sorted before they can submit it with their full candidate nominations for the general election.

Saneem adds so far the FijiFirst is the lone party that has submitted their candidate nominations while other parties have until mid-day next Monday.
